Youth Ministry Intern

Purpose: The Youth Ministry Intern gains valuable real-world experience in the planning and execution of a relational youth ministry while blessing the established ministry with new insight, ideas, and relationships.  

Duration: Est. January 1 – August 31 (20 hrs/week. 8 months) 

Responsibilities 

I. Contact Work 

• Attend all church-related youth events 

• Work with students in various ministries to equip them for the work of ministry • Meet with students and/or attend student events that help establish or enhance relationships 

II. Mentoring/Discipleship 

• Devote time daily to personal spiritual development 

• Meet weekly with the Youth Minster 

• Teach youth Oxygen 

III. Leadership/Administration 

• Work with Youth Minister in planning and Direction of the Youth Ministry 

• Plan and help execute program and events  

• Oversee Youth Ministry while Minister Stan is on Sabbatical (February – April) • Join the Impact/Discovery (Summer Camps) planning team 

• Other duties as requested or assigned 

IV. Major Tasks 

• Help carry out Vision for the Youth Ministry 

• Lead an Oxygen Group (Sunday School Ministry) 

• Lead Friday night inSpire (Youth Fellowship) 

• Admin and Planning: Leader Gathering, Camp, Senior Celebration 

Training 

• Weekly sessions with the Youth Minister and other pastoral staff. 

• Read a selection of books decided upon by the Youth Minister 

• Write a final paper summing up the intern’s experience over the summer.

 

Trips and Retreats 

• Mission Trip: June 28 – July 6 (Optional) 

• Discovery Camp and Camp Impact: July 20-27, 2025 

• Servant Team Retreat (Dates TBD) 

Organizational Relationships 

Accountability:

The Youth Ministry Intern is directly accountable to the Youth Minister. This accountability is maintained through personal contact and through weekly meetings. 

Qualifications 

• Must be actively walking in a faithful, obedient relationship with Jesus Christ 

• Must have a passion and genuine love for youth 

• Must have an attitude of versatility, vulnerability, and sensitivity 

• Must have a heart of compassion 

• Must have a desire to evangelize, disciple others, and edify the Body of Christ • Must demonstrate a commitment to and agree with the statement of faith held by Houston  Chinese Church 

• Should have experience ministering to youth or display a desire to learn more about ministering among youth.

Pearland Campus Lead Pastor (Full Time)

Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is looking for a man of God to lead a satellite campus of HCC in Pearland, Texas, a community 15 miles south of Houston, Texas of approximately 70 adults and 20 youth and children. Under the oversight of HCC’s Lead Chinese Pastor and the Chinese Ministry Team, our vision is for this pastor to lead the existing Chinese and English congregations into a full-functioning independent church. 

Relationship: During the initial period of the ministry, the person will serve as a member of the HCC ministerial team under the supervision of the Lead Chinese Pastor, with special assignment in Pearland. This individual will focus on the Pearland Campus and, if needed, will participate with various ministries at HCC. 

Education: Master of Divinity degree or higher from a recognized accredited seminary 

Experience: Minimum 3 or more years of pastoral ministry experience at a Chinese church in North America 

Language: Mandarin and conversational English 

Marital Status: Married preferred 

Character Traits:

Pearland English Minister (Full Time)

Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, non-denominational evangelical church that has been ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ in Houston, TX since 1975. HCC has a rich history of church planting and a commitment to biblical teaching and a missional heart for the lost.

In 2011, a congregation of first-generation Chinese worshippers formed an extension campus in a fast-growing city south of Houston called Pearland. In 2020, we completed construction of a building for the Pearland campus. Currently, we conduct two worship services (Mandarin & English). 

At this time, Houston Chinese Church is looking for a full-time English Minister for its Pearland Campus. Serving in an immigrant church, this individual should have a clear calling to minister to the second-generation, many of whom are the youth of Chinese-side families. Until the Pearland campus is launched independently as Pearland Chinese Church, this individual will serve under the supervision of HCC’s Lead English pastor and on the English Staff Team. 

Education: Master of Divinity or higher from an accredited seminary (or currently pursuing an M.Div. degree)

Experience: 2+ years experience in church ministry in North America (volunteer or staff)

Language: Fluency in English required; knowledge of Mandarin language a plus

Relationship: Reports to the Lead English Pastor, expected to work closely with a Pearland Chinese Minister/Pastor

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a team of lay leaders (English Ministry Team) 
  2. Provide leadership and oversight of the youth and adult English ministries

      1. Oversee preaching schedule and finding guest speakers
      2. Oversee service planning and the administration of the ordinances
      3. Preach at least twice a month

  1. A baptized believer of Jesus Christ who demonstrates integrity, grace, and love for the church

  3. Knowledge of adolescent spiritual development and approaches to ministry to youth

Nursery Caregiver (Part Time)

Responsibilities & Duties:  At all times, two adults will be present in the nursery classrooms to provide nurture and care. The Nursery Caregivers will set-up the childcare space prior to the children’s arrival, welcome children and parents, pay attention to any specific concerns or needs the parent shares, and provide structure for playtime, snacks, & rest (as needed). This may include learning the names of the children and parents, reading books, singing songs, playing games, and assisting children with hand-washing & eating snacks, changing diapers, holding, rocking, and supporting the safety of the classroom through behavior management. It is the Nursery Caregiver’s responsibility to be sure that all children are cared for in an appropriate manner.

Time Required:  Nursery Caregivers will be scheduled for weekly events (Friday 7:00pm-9:00pm and/or Sunday 9:15am-12:15pm) and on an as-needed basis. All Nursery Caregivers are part-time. Caregivers are expected to be present approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled event and should stay until all the children in their care have been picked up by their parents and the classroom is cleaned up.

Skills needed/to be developed:  A love of children, behavior management skills, and the gifts of hospitality, patience, kindness, and joy. Caregivers should also desire to provide care to the children and should consider the children in their care their number one priority while working. Some experience with parenting, childcare, and/or teaching infants/toddlers is necessary. Fluent in English is required and fluent in Chinese is a plus!

Training Required:  According to Policies, HCC will conduct a criminal background check on all staff and volunteers working with children. Staff must also complete an orientation/training session once a year and additional continuing education in-services, as needed and/or as requested by the Children’s Ministry Team.

Pearland English Minister (Full Time)

Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, non-denominational evangelical church that has been ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ in Houston, TX since 1975. HCC has a rich history of church planting and a commitment to biblical teaching and a missional heart for the lost.

In 2011, a congregation of first-generation Chinese worshippers formed an extension campus in a fast-growing city south of Houston called Pearland. In 2020, we completed construction of a building for the Pearland campus. Currently, we conduct two worship services (Mandarin & English).

Serving in an immigrant church, this individual should have a clear calling to minister to the second-generation, many of whom are the youth of Chinese-side families. Nursery Caregiver (Part Time)

Responsibilities & Duties:  At all times, two adults will be present in the nursery classrooms to provide nurture and care. The Nursery Caregivers will set-up the childcare space prior to the children’s arrival, welcome children and parents, pay attention to any specific concerns or needs the parent shares, and provide structure for playtime, snacks, & rest (as needed). This may include learning the names of the children and parents, reading books, singing songs, playing games, and assisting children with hand-washing & eating snacks, changing diapers, holding, rocking, and supporting the safety of the classroom through behavior management. It is the Nursery Caregiver’s responsibility to be sure that all children are cared for in an appropriate manner.

Time Required:  Nursery Caregivers will be scheduled for weekly events (Friday 7:00pm-9:00pm and/or Sunday 9:15am-12:15pm) and on an as-needed basis. All Nursery Caregivers are part-time. Caregivers are expected to be present approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled event and should stay until all the children in their care have been picked up by their parents and the classroom is cleaned up.

Skills needed/to be developed:  A love of children, behavior management skills, and the gifts of hospitality, patience, kindness, and joy. Pearland Campus Lead Pastor (Full Time)

Pearland Campus Lead Pastor (Full Time)

Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is looking for a man of God to lead a satellite campus of HCC in Pearland, Texas, a community 15 miles south of Houston, Texas of approximately 70 adults and 20 youth and children. Under the oversight of HCC’s Lead Chinese Pastor and the Chinese Ministry Team, our vision is for this pastor to lead the existing Chinese and English congregations into a full-functioning independent church. 

Relationship: During the initial period of the ministry, the person will serve as a member of the HCC ministerial team under the supervision of the Lead Chinese Pastor, with special assignment in Pearland. This individual will focus on the Pearland Campus and, if needed, will participate with various ministries at HCC. 

Education: Master of Divinity degree or higher from a recognized accredited seminary 

Experience: Minimum 3 or more years of pastoral ministry experience at a Chinese church in North America 

Language: Mandarin and conversational English

Pearland English Minister (Full Time)

Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, non-denominational evangelical church that has been ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ in Houston, TX since 1975. HCC has a rich history of church planting and a commitment to biblical teaching and a missional heart for the lost.

In 2011, a congregation of first-generation Chinese worshippers formed an extension campus in a fast-growing city south of Houston called Pearland. In 2020, we completed construction of a building for the Pearland campus. Currently, we conduct two worship services (Mandarin & English). 

At this time, Houston Chinese Church is looking for a full-time English Minister for its Pearland Campus. Serving in an immigrant church, this individual should have a clear calling to minister to the second-generation, many of whom are the youth of Chinese-side families. Until the Pearland campus is launched independently as Pearland Chinese Church, this individual will serve under the supervision of HCC’s Lead English pastor and on the English Staff Team. 

Education: Master of Divinity or higher from an accredited seminary (or currently pursuing an M.Div. degree)

Nursery Caregiver (Part Time)

Responsibilities & Duties:  At all times, two adults will be present in the nursery classrooms to provide nurture and care. The Nursery Caregivers will set-up the childcare space prior to the children’s arrival, welcome children and parents, pay attention to any specific concerns or needs the parent shares, and provide structure for playtime, snacks, & rest (as needed). This may include learning the names of the children and parents, reading books, singing songs, playing games, and assisting children with hand-washing & eating snacks, changing diapers, holding, rocking, and supporting the safety of the classroom through behavior management. It is the Nursery Caregiver’s responsibility to be sure that all children are cared for in an appropriate manner.

Time Required:  Nursery Caregivers will be scheduled for weekly events (Friday 7:00pm-9:00pm and/or Sunday 9:15am-12:15pm) and on an as-needed basis. All Nursery Caregivers are part-time. Caregivers are expected to be present approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled event and should stay until all the children in their care have been picked up by their parents and the classroom is cleaned up.

Skills needed/to be developed:  A love of children, behavior management skills, and the gifts of hospitality, patience, kindness, and joy. Caregivers should also desire to provide care to the children and should consider the children in their care their number one priority while working. Some experience with parenting, childcare, and/or teaching infants/toddlers is necessary. Fluent in English is required and fluent in Chinese is a plus!

Training Required:  According to Policies, HCC will conduct a criminal background check on all staff and volunteers working with children. Staff must also complete an orientation/training session once a year and additional continuing education in-services, as needed and/or as requested by the Children’s Ministry Team.

Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, non-denominational evangelical church that has been ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ in Houston, TX since 1975. HCC has a rich history of church planting and a commitment to biblical teaching and a missional heart for the lost.

In 2011, a congregation of first-generation Chinese worshippers formed an extension campus in a fast-growing city south of Houston called Pearland. In 2020, we completed construction of a building for the Pearland campus. Currently, we conduct two worship services (Mandarin & English). 

At this time, Houston Chinese Church is looking for a full-time English Minister for its Pearland Campus. Serving in an immigrant church, this individual should have a clear calling to minister to the second-generation, many of whom are the youth of Chinese-side families. Until the Pearland campus is launched independently as Pearland Chinese Church, this individual will serve under the supervision of HCC’s Lead English pastor and on the English Staff Team. 

Education: Master of Divinity or higher from an accredited seminary (or currently pursuing an M.Div. degree)

Experience: 2+ years experience in church ministry in North America (volunteer or staff)

Language: Fluency in English required; knowledge of Mandarin language a plus

Relationship: Reports to the Lead English Pastor, expected to work closely with a Pearland Chinese Minister/Pastor

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a team of lay leaders (English Ministry Team) 
  2. Provide leadership and oversight of the youth and adult English ministries
    1. Sunday English Service
      1. Oversee preaching schedule and finding guest speakers
      2. Oversee service planning and the administration of the ordinances
      3. Preach at least twice a month
    2. Friday Youth Fellowship
      1. Develop curriculum
      2. Lead weekly Friday fellowship activities (i.e. Bible study, devotion, discussion, games, etc.)
    3. Sunday School
      1. Develop curriculum and regularly teach a class
      2. Coordinate a team of volunteer teachers
    4. Special events and retreats
  3. Champion parents as disciple-makers and work with families in the discipleship of their youth
  4. Personally invest in student leaders and adult ministry leaders
  5. Work with Campus Leadership Team in setting and stewarding annual budget

  1. A baptized believer of Jesus Christ who demonstrates integrity, grace, and love for the church

Nursery Caregiver (Part Time)

Responsibilities & Duties:  At all times, two adults will be present in the nursery classrooms to provide nurture and care. The Nursery Caregivers will set-up the childcare space prior to the children’s arrival, welcome children and parents, pay attention to any specific concerns or needs the parent shares, and provide structure for playtime, snacks, & rest (as needed). This may include learning the names of the children and parents, reading books, singing songs, playing games, and assisting children with hand-washing & eating snacks, changing diapers, holding, rocking, and supporting the safety of the classroom through behavior management. It is the Nursery Caregiver’s responsibility to be sure that all children are cared for in an appropriate manner.

Time Required:  Nursery Caregivers will be scheduled for weekly events (Friday 7:00pm-9:00pm and/or Sunday 9:15am-12:15pm) and on an as-needed basis. All Nursery Caregivers are part-time. Caregivers are expected to be present approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled event and should stay until all the children in their care have been picked up by their parents and the classroom is cleaned up.

Skills needed/to be developed:  A love of children, behavior management skills, and the gifts of hospitality, patience, kindness, and joy. Caregivers should also desire to provide care to the children and should consider the children in their care their number one priority while working. Some experience with parenting, childcare, and/or teaching infants/toddlers is necessary. Fluent in English is required and fluent in Chinese is a plus!

Training Required:  According to Policies, HCC will conduct a criminal background check on all staff and volunteers working with children. Staff must also complete an orientation/training session once a year and additional continuing education in-services, as needed and/or as requested by the Children’s Ministry Team.

Pearland Campus Lead Pastor (Full Time)

Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is looking for a man of God to lead a satellite campus of HCC in Pearland, Texas, a community 15 miles south of Houston, Texas of approximately 70 adults and 20 youth and children. Under the oversight of HCC’s Lead Chinese Pastor and the Chinese Ministry Team, our vision is for this pastor to lead the existing Chinese and English congregations into a full-functioning independent church. 

Relationship: During the initial period of the ministry, the person will serve as a member of the HCC ministerial team under the supervision of the Lead Chinese Pastor, with special assignment in Pearland. This individual will focus on the Pearland Campus and, if needed, will participate with various ministries at HCC. 

Education: Master of Divinity degree or higher from a recognized accredited seminary 

Experience: Minimum 3 or more years of pastoral ministry experience at a Chinese church in North America 

Language: Mandarin and conversational English 

Marital Status: Married preferred
