Membership Matters: The Keys of the Kingdom | Matthew 16:13-20
Preached By Jason Tarn
Bible Book(s): Matthew

Holding keys is like holding authority to open gates and shut them. When Christ gave the keys of the kingdom to the apostles, who passed them on to the church, He was giving authority to open and shut the gates of the kingdom. In other words, He was giving authority to receive or reject an individual’s confession of Christ as either genuine (from the Father) or spurious (from the flesh).
