Spiritual renewal does not happen apart from God’s Word. Ezra was commissioned to redirect God’s people back to the Lord by reading and explaining God’s Word. The people allowed His Word to penetrate their hearts. As they heard and understood God’s Word, they wept, celebrated, and obeyed.
