In a culture of luxury and affluence, the poor and marginalized fall easily as victims to the rich and powerful. But while they appear to prosper on the earth, the fate of the unrighteous rich will always end in misery – in weeping and howling on the Day of the Lord. In our text, James reinforces these realities through a prophetic woe against the wicked, which serves as a warning for the righteous in Christ.
