So far in Colossians, Paul has been making a sustained argument that Jesus is a sufficient Savior. That being united to him by faith is enough to experience the fullness of God in salvation. In today’s passage, we get a better sense of the false teaching that had suggested otherwise and a taste of what makes such falsehood so appealing.
