The Church Militant is an old theological classification that distinguishes all believers now living on earth from all believers now deceased in heaven (the Church Triumphant). The term itself suggests that living Christians are presently engaged in a battle of sorts. Not against skeptics or critics. But a battle being waged against an ancient foe.
